Who I Am?

Hello there! I’m Monserrat Hernandez—but you can call me Monse.

I’m a graphic designer and creative soul from a small rural town just outside of Fresno, California. Picture it: a quiet place surrounded by peaches and oranges, far from the glitz of Hollywood but soaked in that relentless California heat. Those fruits are more than just scenery, though. They represent a hard-working community who left everything behind in search of the American dream (with 7-year-old me included).

Growing up, I witnessed my community’s struggles firsthand, and I carry great pride in being Mexican. The dedication and grit I saw in my people became the same fire I brought into my education. I was born in Mexico, and unlike many around me, I was fortunate enough to choose my future without fear. When the time came, I stood firm in my dream to create art, share art, and honor my ancestors, those who worked the fields and left some of their own dreams buried in the soil.

And perhaps it was written in the stars that I would turn out an artist. I was lucky enough to be born into a city surrounded by history and art. While my mother took me to church to learn religion, I got lost in the glimmer of gold details and the strokes of grand pieces hand-painted above me. In a way, art and beauty became my own religion. The richness of Mexico made me appreciate my roots even more, and America helped me turn that dream into a reality.

Why I became a

Graphic Designer?

As the first woman in my family to earn a higher education, I pursued art relentlessly; starting with an Associate’s Degree in Studio Arts, where I sharpened my creative eye. From there, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from California State University, Fresno. This mix of artistic intuition and technical skill lets me create work that’s not just beautiful, but thoughtful and intentional.

Nowadays, I pour my heart into creating meaningful, impactful visuals that help brands tell their stories, not just follow the trends of the moment. Great design isn’t only about looking good (though yes, that matters). It’s about connection, storytelling, and leaving a lasting impression.

I specialize in helping small businesses discover and refine their branding. Whether it’s a logo, a complete branding package, a book cover, or digital marketing materials, I approach every project with care, enthusiasm, and just a little bit of magic.

Okay, fine. Not magic. More like creative chaos. But on the other side of that chaos, you’ll have a brand you can be genuinely proud of. One that doesn’t sacrifice who you are for a cheap trend that’s gone tomorrow.
