A selection of book covers that highlight the focus on narrative-driven design, atmosphere, and cohesive visual storytelling
THE BRIEF
THE PROJECT
This collection of book cover projects showcases a range of narrative-driven designs, blending storytelling, mood, and visual craftsmanship. Whether designing for educational works or creating moody, gothic covers, each project called for a unique approach tailored to the story. The goal is always to translate each story into a cohesive, visually striking cover that engages readers while reflecting the tone, genre, and personality of the book.

Edgar The Elegance of the Botanical
Typography Portrait | Illustator + Photoshop
Bringing together my design, photography, research, and storytelling allowed me to shape a cohesive and immersive piece. I handled the complete design with careful attention to detail, creating a polished and visually striking result that feels intentional and refined. From typography and layout to composition, every choice supports readability while building a cohesive aesthetic. My own photography adds a personal lens, capturing the mood and mystery of the occult, while research-driven narratives blend history, intriguing anecdotes, and thoughtful insights. The result is a story-rich, research-driven work that explores the mystical and mysterious with curiosity and care.
Redesign of Cottonwood
| Photoshop + After Effects
The goal of this bookcover was to reimagine Cottonwood by R. Lee Smith through both a book cover redesign and a cinematic motion trailer. My aim was to honor the novel’s powerful blend of science fiction and social commentary by creating visuals that feel raw, gritty, and immersive. While the world may one day see Cottonwood adapted for film or streaming, I wanted to use my design skills now to give this hidden gem the recognition it deserves.

Daughter of Blood
| Photoshop
When I’m not designing, I’m usually writing stories about supernatural beings with a heart. Graphic design and storytelling have always been intertwined for me. I actually started by creating mock book covers for my own stories as a teenager. This book is a glimpse into that world and a future book I hope to publish one day, so the cover had to feel exactly right for the book and my person art design. The design leans into a dark gothic mood with an atmospheric, alluring tone, inspired by the paranormal romance and vampire fiction that first pulled me into the genre. Supernatural elements, rich contrasts, and a sense of mystery work together to create otherworldliness and intrigue.
Cultural Intellihgence
| Photoshop + Canvas
It began as a single book cover for an author who needed a visual anchor while finishing her manuscript, but it quickly grew into a year-long creative journey with multiple phases, deadlines, and deliverables. As the book shifted from a reflective concept to a practical guide, the design transformed alongside it, resulting in two final directions and eight finished covers, plus many drafts that reflect the winding path design often takes before landing in the right place. What started as a cover expanded into presentations, workshops, a workbook, and infographics that distilled key ideas for both the book and its companion materials.
